Haywards Heath College student shines at Town Council Awards
Maximilian Armani Styles, a student at Haywards Heath College, has been highly commended for the Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award at the Haywards Heath Town Council Community Awards.
The award recognised his incredible academic achievements, alongside his dedication to sports, with him featuring heavily in both the college’s futsal and football teams.
Max received an award from the Town Mayor, Cllr Stephanie Inglesfield, as well as a voucher.
The recent ceremony acted as a celebration of different Haywards Heath residents, and their amazing work within the local community.
Maximilian, who studies level two digital media, as well as GCSE English language and mathematics, said:
“I felt very proud and honoured to receive the award. My teacher told me that I had been selected for the award, and I was delighted as I was unaware I had been nominated.
“I like helping others and it inspires me to continue with my hard work and volunteering.”
A shortlist was made using nominations from the general public, and the winners were chosen by a panel that included; Cllr Stephanie Inglesfield, Town Mayor; Cllr Duncan Pascoe, Deputy Mayor; Katie Rabone from Community People; and Nicky Dodds from Clarion Futures.
Paul Riley, Principal of Haywards Heath College, added:
“We are so proud of Maximilian for receiving this well-earned award, and for his work juggling his academic life with his sporting achievements.
“People like Maximilian show what is possible, through dedication and perseverance, to all of our students at Haywards Heath College.”
